Each summer, Cleary Zimmermann Engineers welcomes students to our team to gain hands-on experience, make meaningful contributions, and build lasting connections through internships. Our firm offers opportunities across a range of disciplines, including mechanical engineering, electrical engineering, marketing, and more!
We sat down with three of our summer interns, Evan Ross, Caleb Chase, and Hayden Yeich, to learn more about their roles at Cleary Zimmermann and their goals for the summer.
Meet Evan Ross – Electrical Engineering Intern

Hi Evan, could you share what school you attend and what your classification is? Can you tell us about your summer role here at CZ?
“I attend Texas A&M University. I’m currently a senior going into my fifth year, and my role here at Cleary Zimmermann is an electrical engineering intern. I [previously] started out as an electrician’s apprentice, so I kind of got some hands-on experience with the electrical side of MEP. Also, my grandfather was an electrical engineer, and he would always build capacitors out of glass bottles in the garage. He would have the little machines that would shock you when you touch them, and I thought that was really cool. So, it kind of got me into it.”
Can you tell us about one skill that you are hoping to build confidence in over the summer?
“I really want to build confidence in my technical skills, like Revit and all kinds of software that are used. I think that can translate well into a lot of things that you would use in the job.”
Could you tell us a little about your favorite weekend hobbies?
“I like playing golf, and I’m going to play golf later today. It is one of my favorite things to do. I also like playing the guitar.”
Meet Caleb Chase – Electrical Engineering Intern

Hi Caleb, could you share what school you attend and what your classification is? Can you tell us about your summer role here at CZ?
“I am a senior at Texas A&M University, and I am an electrical engineering intern.”
Can you tell us about one skill that you are hoping to build confidence in over the summer?
“I am hoping to build confidence in creating one-line diagrams. It’s something that I’m pretty interested in, mostly because of my power background during my schooling. Going from making one-lines for large three-phase systems to making them for buildings is something I find really interesting.”
Could you tell us a little about your favorite weekend hobbies?
“I like playing board games with friends, like Catan, Root, and Monopoly.”
Meet Hayden Yeich – Mechanical Engineering Intern

Hi Hayden, could you share what school you attend and what your classification is? Can you tell us about your summer role here at CZ?
“I’m going to Texas A&M. I’m currently a senior, and I’m one of the mechanical interns.”
Could you tell us what inspired you to study mechanical engineering?
“I’ve always been curious about designing things, how things work, and Legos.”
Can you tell us about one skill that you are hoping to build confidence in over the summer?
“My communication skills, talking to new people, and trying to expand my knowledge.”
Could you tell us a little about your favorite weekend hobbies?
“Anything revolving around being outside and the outdoors, so surfing and hiking. I also like to rock climb when I hike, so I’m trying to incorporate both.”
