Cleary Zimmermann Engineers provided MEP design for the ground-up Southcross Hospital in Lockhart a 17, 875 square foot "Special Hospital" designed to achieve TDSHS certification. This hospital included an airborne infection isolation suite imaging scanners (X-ray/CT) emergency department patient treatment rooms lab offices and conference space.
Mechanical systems included packaged RTUs with single duct VAV boxes and associated ductwork. We ensured the isolation suite was negatively pressurized to prevent the spread of infectious airborne pathogens and met strict filtration requirements including HEPA filtration. Electrically we provided 480-volt 3 phase power in a multi-branch system with life safety critical equipment and normal power branches. We provided all LED lighting and included a photocell for daylight harvesting in the atrium. We also provided an emergency generator. We provided special systems design including fire alarm nurse call code blue public-address closed-circuit camera for security and rough ins for access control. Plumbing included medical gas (oxygen medical air and medical vacuum) as well as sanitary waste grease waste and all staff and patient restroom fixtures.
