What a year! In 2025, Cleary Zimmermann Engineers celebrated the launch of a new service line, the introduction of new leadership, and the initial expansion into a new geographic market! As the year comes to a close, we wanted to celebrate these milestones and more from each of our offices!
January: IT/Security Launch
In January, we launched our IT/Security service offering, specializing in low-voltage design, including:

- Surveillance
Led by Jaime Katz, this service line has been off to a strong start with projects in the industrial, higher education, and K-12 sectors, as well as the addition of IT/Security Designer Ricky Olivares.

February: Cowboy Breakfast
Our San Antonio team cooked and served over 2000 tacos to providers and staff at Methodist Hospital for a Cowboy Breakfast on February 21st. This annual event started during the COVID-19 pandemic to thank our healthcare heroes, and has become a beloved tradition and one of our favorite ways to serve our community and those who serve us.

March: Drive Thru BBQ / Service Month
During the month of March, CZ embodied our core value of service through community and client service events across our offices. Our Austin office held its first drive-thru BBQ, introducing our clients and friends in Austin to our famous CZ BBQ spread. Our San Antonio and Bryan/College Station offices partnered with local food banks, where groups of CZers helped pack and sort donations. Our San Antonio office also held a blood drive in partnership with the South Texas Blood and Tissue Center.

April: CZ Career Fairs
April kicked off our career fair season! Our team visited campuses such as Texas A&M University in College Station, Texas State University in San Marcos, and the University of Texas at San Antonio, Trinity University, and St. Mary’s University in San Antonio, TX. We enjoyed meeting students seeking to advance their careers, whether through internships or through internships and full-time employment.

May: Joyce Watson Wins Leonardo Award
In May, our Principal of Marketing, Joyce Watson, was awarded the Leonardo Award by SMPS San Antonio. Inspired by the Renaissance inventor, writer, painter, and sculptor, Leonardo Davinci, the SMPS San Antonio chapter presents the Leonardo Award to a current member who has demonstrated excellence in marketing creativity and innovation as it relates to the built environment. Joyce was selected after a rigorous application and interview process and was presented with her award at the SMPS San Antonio Evening of Excellence. As a recipient of the SMPS Leonardo Award, Joyce joins a distinguished group of professionals who are unparalleled in their respective fields. Way to go, Joyce!

June: Welcoming Our Summer Interns
In June, we welcomed the start of summer with our Class of2025 interns. Our interns worked alongside CZers on the mechanical, electrical, and marketing teams to further their education through real-world experience and application! Our mechanical interns constructed a full-scale model of an air duct system to demonstrate proof of concept for a client. Our electrical interns developed a new client-facing deliverable, and our marketing intern spearheaded social media campaigns and the redesign of our Cleary Zimmermann Engineers University (CZU) training materials.

July: CZU Courses / New Promotions
July was full of mid-year promotions and our CZU courses. TJ Gary, PE, was promoted to our Director of Electrical Engineering and Daniel Hernandez, PE, was promoted to Director of K-12.
Our annual CZU training program, a continuing education initiative designed to sharpen our team’s skills and increase their knowledge, hit its stride in July. The curriculum is structured like a college course with 100, 200, and 300-level courses, covering mechanical, electrical, and plumbing specifics, as well as the history of the firm and marketing.

August: Announcing New Leadership in Houston
In August, Miles Nommensen’s promotion to Director of MEP was announced. Miles leads our Houston office. Miles brings over 20 years of experience in designing mechanical and plumbing systems, with additional expertise in electrical design for seamless project management. As a leader, he promotes collaboration and innovation across teams, working towards common goals. A few months later, in October, we celebrated the relocation of our Houston office to the Energy Corridor. We hosted an open house for our Houston clients and friends to welcome this new era.

September: Coffee Cart Returns to AIA Sandcastles
Our Houston team sponsored the annual AIA Sandcastles Festival in Galveston and brought back the fan-favorite coffee cart. We hit the beach bright and early to keep the hundreds of sandcastle builders caffeinated and cool with delicious iced coffee!

October: Dallas Team Lands in Temporary Space
October marked the initial landing of our Dallas team in their temporary office space! Trent Oliver, PE, Principal of Building MEP, made the move from San Antonio to join the rest of our local CZers. The Dallas team has been busy meeting clients, booking projects, and overseeing the finish-out of the permanent office space a few floors down. Stay tuned for the official Dallas launch in early 2026!

November: CZ Gives Thanks
Every November, all of our offices celebrate the holiday season together before the PTO requests start rolling in. Each office hosts a potluck-style Thanksgiving dinner, featuring mashed potatoes, turkey, macaroni and cheese, and of course, lots of rolls! As is tradition in our San Antonio office, we played an officewide bingo, hosted by Moose Engineers.

December: Christmas Parties and Looking Ahead to 2026!
In December, each of our offices will host a Christmas party to celebrate a wonderful year! Stay tuned to our social media to see not only photos from each of our offices, but also a special holiday message. In the meantime, enjoy this throwback from last year!

2025 has been such a wonderful year here, but we are equally excited for the year to come. In 2026, we will celebrate 20 years of serving our clients, community, and each other! We are so grateful to our wonderful clients, team, and friends, and we look forward to seeing you in the new year!
