The project scope consisted of upgrades to the boilers, cooling towers and chillers within the Texas A&M Corpus Christi Central Plant. We removed the existing (2) 400 HP HHW boilers and 400 HPcondensing boilers located on service pad for boiler #3 and replaced them with (3) 250 HP new fire tube boilers with their associated hot water pumps.
We upgraded Cooling tower #6 and placed it into service, with a new condenser water pump installed to serve this tower and placed in service once the 6th chiller was added. We replaced (1) 1,000 ton existing chiller. This was a like for like replacement which included the removal of the existing chiller and installation of a new Mag-Lev chiller of equal capacity.
We added a sixth chiller, primary pump, and secondary pump. The new chiller has same capacity as chillers 4 and 5, which is 1,500 tons. We also upgraded all associated controls, revised existing sequences, and reviewed power requirements.
