Cleary Zimmermann Engineers provided commissioning services for this 136,975 SF four story freshman residence hall,  which houses 490 beds and offers private study rooms, communal areas, and laundry facilities.The mechanical systems for this project consisted of 3 fans, 4 energy recovery units, 15 outdoor and 314 indoor VRF Units.The mechanical system utilized a Variable Refrigerant Flow (VRF) system to provide Dx Cooling to multiple zones, using branch selectors to vary the amount of cooling in each one depending on the required load in the space.The plumbing system consisted of 4 gas water heaters working in parallel utilizing 2 booster pumps, supplying domestic hot water to the entire building. The lighting control system consisted of a series of zones with occupancy sensors in all the common areas used in conjunction with wall switches in the living spaces. The control function of each occupancy sensor was set to automatically turn on the lights upon zone occupancy and power off lights within 30 minutes of all occupants leaving the space.Commissioned systems included HVAC equipment, ductwork, piping,  Building Automation Systems (controlled devices, control loops, and systems integration), domestic hot water heating system, interior lighting  and exterior lighting and lighting control systems, to include daylighting controls, occupancy sensors, dimmers and time scheduling.
