Randolph Brooks Federal Credit Union (RBFCU) is a non-profit credit union founded at Randolph Air Force Base in 1952 and since expanded to more than 50 locations across South Central Texas. In response to the institution’s growth, RBFCU built an Administrative Service Center in Live Oak, Texas. It includes a new 17,000 SF auditorium complex, a new 120,400 SF four story office building, and a 500 car five story parking garage.
Cleary Zimmermann Engineers provided full MEP services for the second building in the complex and brought infrastructure to the third. We included fire pumps and paralleling gear for the generator. We designed a Tier 2 data center, complete with power, fiber, copper, CAT 5, security, and access control using hand scanner.s
For the existing ASC 1 building, we revised the paralleling generators and enlarged the data center into a Tier 2 Data Center. It acts as a back-up that the data center at Randolph AFB can fail over to if necessary. It houses all software of immediate need and the ability to transfer data, either electronically or physically, if the need does arise. Our team used the UPS (uninterruptible power supply) system to change generators and migrate power without interrupting customer use. We oversaw and coordinated the unbolting, recabling, and rebolting the 200 amp switch gear and paralleling gear in under an hour to ensure adequate UPS power.
