Kinder Ranch High School was one of two new high schools funded by the Comal ISD 2017 bond to relieve severe overcrowding in the District. Cleary Zimmermann Engineers provided MEP design for the new campus. Spanning over 400,000 SF with a capacity of 3,000 students the campus is divided into academic, fine arts, and athletic wings. The 4-story academic wing spans multiple levels and includes classrooms, science labs, and specialty training labs. The fine arts wing includes sound sensitive design in the auditorium, as well as the band, orchestra, and choir halls. The athletic wing contains a weight room, locker rooms, classrooms, and coaches's offices. Additional athletic fields and facilities include a competition gym, baseball and softball fields, a football field, and a swimming pool. The spacious cafeteria has seating across two levels. Mechanical systems included a water cooled central chilled water plant, gas fired boilers, and VAV air handlers with VAV terminal units. The campus has LED lighting and low flow plumbing fixtures.
