Cleary Zimmermann provided full MEP design services and Building Analytics services for Dr. John Folks Middle School. As a middle school in San Antonio’s largest district, our team designed MEP systems to accommodate large numbers of both students and faculty. Our team used Autodesk® Revit to create computer models of our designs. We ensured the proper sizing of equipment and fixtures for the end user, including industrial washers and dryers in the gymnasium locker rooms and separate kitchen equipment for family and consumer sciences and cafeteria use. The HVAC system for the building is comprised of variable air volume, constant air volume, chilled water air handlers, rooftop air handlers, air cooled chillers and gas fired boilers.
A key objective of this project was to maximize the efficiency of the building to ensure a CPS rebate and maintain NISD’s rigorous design standards. Through Energy Analysis and CPS Rebate Analysis and Documentation, our Building Analytics team made it possible to achieve potential rebates of $287,400 as well as an annual energy cost savings of $33,395 compared to a baseline school building. This project is certified CHPS Designed.
