GSA engaged the Cleary Zimmermann Engineers team to provide MEP design for a new 8,000 square foot raised floor Data Center which was located on the 3rd Floor within the Bank of America Building in downtown San Antonio. As the building was originally intended for standard office type occupancies, an extensive new stand alone MEP infrastructure package was required. The new electrical infrastructure included 2 - 3,000 amp volt switchboards, a 2,000kW diesel generator, 2 – 750kVA wet cell battery UPS systems. The mechanical system included 12 – CRAC units, 2 – 250 ton air cooled chillers, pre-action fire protection system and a humidification system. Due to limited space on the downtown property, the design team carved out approximately 3,500 square feet within the lower level of the parking garage to house the new chillers, main distribution boards and the UPS system.
