Cleary Zimmermann's MEP and IT/Security teams transformed the emergency room of Ft. Sill's Reynolds Army Community Hospital into an 11,500 SF outpatient urgent care clinic. This Design/Build renovation upgraded the clinic's mechanical systems to include a single 42-ton air handler, VAV systems with fully ducted supply, return, and exhaust, and hydronic hot water reheating. While designing these mechanical systems, we had to avoid the preexisting trolley system in the interstitial that is used to transfer medical records. Our team also designed plumbing systems including domestic hot and cold water, vent lines, sanitary sewer, and medical gases, as well as bathrooms, showers, and locker rooms for staff. We made the isolation patient room made negative with respect to surrounding areas to prevent the spread of infectious disease. We designed specialized lighting for patient common areas to highlight the clinic's noteworthy architectural feature and world class finishes. We also included a nurse call system and cable tv, and our IT/Security team provided structured cabling and Audio/Visual design.
