Cleary Zimmermann's Commissioning Division was selected to perform commissioning services for a new 850-student elementary school as part of the 2014 Bond program. This school is planned for certification under the Collaborative for High Performance Schools (CHPS). The new, 90,000-square-foot school is located on a 19.6-acre property situated on the southwest corner of Johns Road and Lattimore Boulevard. The school houses 36 classrooms across two stories, with the lower grades on the first floor and the upper grades on the second floor. The layout includes many more project areas than a typical school. These project areas are central interior common areas surrounded by classrooms complete with sinks and movable tables and chairs that allow for fluid arrangements to facilitate increased collaborative learning. It is anticipated the New Fabra design will serve as a prototype for the next generation of elementary schools the district will build as the population of Kendall County and Boerne ISD continues to expand.
