Bexar County Building Central Plant Upgrades

Bexar County
San Antonio, TX

(formerly Federal Reserve Bank of Dallas)

The Federal Reserve is the central bank of the United States and is comprised of twelve (12) districts spanning the entire country. The Eleventh District, the Federal Reserve Bank of Dallas, serves Texas and part of adjoining states, with its San Antonio Branch located in downtown San Antonio.

Cleary Zimmermann replaced one (1) 250 ton centrifugal chiller and cooling tower and upgraded DDC controls for the Federal Reserve at its previous location at 126 E. Nueva St. To start, our team prepared a life cycle cost analysis, providing four alternatives with varying rates of yearly operating costs and savings. Once the Fed made its selection, we replaced the chiller and cooling tower in a sub-basement two stories below grade. In order to install the chiller, it had to be passed through a ground mounted steel door on a loading dock one level below grade, so careful care was taken to ensure the equipment fit through the small space. Also, due to the sensitive nature of the facility, our team passed required background checks and took extra security measures. Also, though the Federal Reserve not governed by any local codes, our team designed to city and county codes anyway.
