The design of the MRI Suite at Audie L. Murphy Memorial Veterans Hospital consisted of an 1,800 square foot of addition. The suite included the MRI Imaging room, control room, changing rooms, waiting room, a reading room, and a patient toilet room. The design required additional structural support, as well as the removal of a portion of the exterior wall to allow for a path of travel for the installation of the MRI magnet. As is typical for projects of this type, careful consideration was given to equipment placing and the required shielding. In addition to the occupied space, new mechanical infrastructure was installed within the interstitial space that is common between all of the floors of the hospital.
