San Antonio’s municipally owned utility, CPS Energy, is offering a variety of energy-related rebates in order to support their Save for Tomorrow Energy Plan (STEP). In the past, these rebates have been administered by CPS Energy directly, but as of September 1, 2016, they are administered entirely by CLEAResult through a contract with CPS Energy.

In an earlier article, we reported on commercial energy efficiency rebates. In this article, we shall report on commercial whole building optimization rebates. In contrast to the former, the latter are being newly introduced through CLEAResult.

Previously, CPS Energy's commercial energy efficiency rebates were built around specific technologies such as lighting or HVAC equipment. Now these rebates target market sectors. The intent is to expand rebate offerings to, and increase participation by, eligible utility customers. The new structure will also achieve better alignment with other rebate structures in the nation and establish a streamlined rebate process.

Up-Front Cost for Long-Term Benefits

One of the areas we focus on in Building Analytics is energy modeling. It is a term that is used early and often – as well as fast and loose – when discussing sustainability aspects of proposed and existing buildings.

People know Cleary Zimmermann as the largest MEP engineering firm in San Antonio, but are sometimes a little less familiar with our other service divisions.

Cleary Zimmermann Engineers has been working with the City of San Antonio to perform a series of energy audits on a variety of City facilities ranging from offices to fire stations to public buildings.
